Leveraging a multi-channel approach to target unique segments in the transportation industry

Today’s sales organization evolved out a simple two-channel model with direct and indirect channels supported by field personnel.  While the direct and indirect channels still exist, companies have had to develop more sophisticated methods to connect with specific market segments.  “Reaching trucking companies of different sizes requires different approaches,” said Paul Citarella, CCO of PEOPLEASE.  “For example, connecting with the smallest fleets is complicated by the fact the owner may be on the road driving a truck.”

Intimate industry knowledge coupled with strategic personnel expansion grants PEOPLEASE the opportunity to serve new clients.  ”Over the past couple of months, we have expanded and diversified our sales channels,” Citarella explains.  “In April, we opened an Atlanta-based sales center targeting the small fleet market.  Additionally, we made key investments in strategic transportation markets such as California and the Midwest.  In addition to this headcount expansion, we are doubling our investment in Digital Channels including web, social and email marketing.”
